This was G's first year in twirling! She had a great time marching in a few parades, performing in a couple of recitals, performing at basketball games, and then participating in a competition! For beginner twirlers, they do not compete against each other, but basically show off their learned skills for a judge. Isn't she lovely? She rocks sequins like a boss.
Seriously? The lovely is almost too much for this mom sometimes. Love this pose she struck at the end for the judge.
A trophy AND a medal! So proud of her! And she was SO proud of herself!
Not only does she twirl, and steal hearts, she also has an artistic side. See the focus? And yes, that is Black Beauty.
Seriously?

A.G. and G
Before we get too much further into the year, let's review what G is currently obsessed with. For Christmas this past year, Santa brought G an American Girl doll that looks just like her! And it was love at first sight. See that face? Pure joy, y'all! You're wondering what she named her, no? She named her after herself. The exact same name. But calls her "AG" or "Mini G" so that things don't get confusing. Ever since AG came into our lives, she has been quite frankly obsessed with all things American Girl. She watches videos of how to make accessories for the doll. The doll has her own section of G's room. AG has a wardrobe that is adorable. AG has pink house slippers. AG is a very lucky girl. Err. Doll. A very lucky doll. She is saving all her money to buy a best friend for AG. She has made a HUGE list, after extensive research on the official American Girl website, of accessories that she wants to buy for the dolls. AG has been to church and has travelled all over this fair city. Obsess much? And oddly enough, I sometimes refer to the doll as if she were real. Perhaps I am caught up in AG also. Someone, send a therapist! Oh, and American Girl gift cards.
Apples and Trees
I am having a total proud Type A Mom moment. I just opened the DVD case and I find that G has organized them by production company. All Disney together. All the Pixar following. And within each category, as you can see, any sequels are placed in order. Seriously? I'm so in love with that kid! Most of my life needs reorganization but I do have a few things I am obsessed with being in order. The apple? Not far from the tree, y'all.

February : Not the most exciting month this year..
I was still recovering from surgery, so there wasn't a lot going on that was photograph worthy!
Super Star G had a twirling performance and she rocked it!
Valentine's Day! My girl is SO thoughtful and sweet, she got me some sweet little gifts, and even sprinkled "rose petals" on the floor for me!
Midnight fears having his photograph taken. I am pretty sure he believes the camera will steal his soul. Actually, he is afraid of EVERY little thing. But he does love him some G!

January 2012
Here's a recap of January. January is always an exciting month for us as it includes an awesome birthday for my Princess!
Awesome 9th Birthday Party at Build a Bear!
This is how all the cool kids do birthday candles these days!
Make a volcano for school? YES!

And then at the end of the month, I had surgery and this was the balloon that my sweet girl bought me! We love dogs with thermometers and bandages on balloons! Perhaps it is the future vet in G!
Clearly...
..it has taken me a while to come up with another post. Now I need to play catch up. I really wanted to be recording the adventures that my daughter and I have. Let's be honest. I am aging. In fact, this is the year of my 20th high school reunion. (Do the math, I don't care. I'm old, y'all.) Anyway, during all the planning of this, the committee and former classmates have been posting on Facebook. I am going to be honest, dear blog, and admit that I have zero recollection of half of these people. Maybe even more than half, actually. In fact, I have a nagging fear that I am about to show up to the WRONG high school reunion. If I do, I will just try to convince everyone I invented Post-its or something. Anyway, I am going to try to do a little catch up here on what we are doing and what is going on in our world.
